I switch back and forth so infrequently that for me it's not a 
problem (I leave it on the AC since I have a Red Button for battery
use).

The one I have however gets VERY warm after a half hour or so of being
on - to the point it's uncomfortable to hold. George (I think it was)
said he'd not observed this. Is it a pecularity of my unit?
