A 45 mm focal length in a viewer is (100/4.5) about 22 diopter.
For a person with -5 diopter myopia taking of his/her glasses
is equivalent to adding +5 diopter. This roughly added to the
viewer means 27 diopter, about 36 to 37 mm focal length. This
comes close to orthostereoscopic viewing.
As I have said before to myopic stereoscopists: never have
your myopia surgically "corrected". Easy freeviewing as well
as more orthostereoscopic viewer usage are advantages of
moderate myopia.
