In the Stereoscopic Society we have two vociferous Upright Citizens (one is
on the Committee!) but neither has been able to persuade me to sacrifice the
majority for their minority format!

Most meeting halls have "Landscape" format walls, and I just cannot see that
it makes any sense to limit the width when the height is already limited by
room geometry :-)

Oh, and available materials come into the question, too! Harkness Hall who
make many of the largest screens around (they hold the world record for
screen size...) are unable to come up with a material that does not
depolarise, but which is wider than 8 feet.

So, you can have a sreen which is 8 feet high and 20 feet wide or a screen
which is 8 feet wide and the height of your hall. Which is better?

I was dictating "Landscape" format and no verticals with a film height of
more than 24mm many years before Dr T even discovered stereo! <VBG>
