ray--
thanks for your insight. as a volunteer on many fronts i fully appreciate
and commend the job overall that everyone connected with the nsa performs.
still, when a respected publication like "stereo world" puts, say "april,
2001" on its cover, that magazone should be in the members' hands in april,
2001.
there are many hospitals that use volunteer help. would we be concerned if
on a consistent basis, needed blood made it up to the operating room two
weeks after the patient had expired?
i fully support the concept of the nsa's paying those who put out the
publication, and would consider it an honor to shell out more $$ for a hired
staff. (i'm a retiree on a fixed income). if our members can pay out
thousands on rbt's and other nifty stuff, they can come up with ten or
twenty bucks a year to maintain a great publication.
i sympathize enough with vendors to say that they should have a right to see
their paid ads published on a timely basis. and i don't know how many times
i missed out on breaking stereo news because it was old long before i got my
latest issue. that hurts the credibility of the publication, and the nsa.
i care very much about both to have little tolerance for endless excuses.
john dennis is a terrific editor, and one day i hope to read an article in
"stereo world" that is NEWs (emphasis on "new").
i'm not trying to p-o anyone, and i apologize if some have been offended by
my remarks. nonetheless, there is always room for improvement in the best
of organizations, and i hope that this forum will continue in that
direction.
highest regards,
marshall
