I will be one of those mouring the loss of Kodachrome. Simply
because no other color film produced the accurrate slides that
Kodachrome 25 did. Yes I have shot Provia 100F which is finer grain
but has a cyan tint to it. Blues are a problem with Provia 100f as
this film does not do an accurrate job of reproduction. Velvia is
great for super saturated color. If thats what you want. For landscapes
Velvia does jump out at you.
But none of the current transparancy films equal Kodachrome 25 in
terms of color accurracy. I started using Kodachrome back in 1971 when
it was still KII. Slides I have seen shot in 1947 retain the same
colors as they did in 1947.
Time and technology move on, but not always is progress made. Film
has come a long way, but Kodachrome was the standard which all others
were measured against.
