hello, mark--
i never suggested getting rid of your film-based stuff. although i sold my
rbt, i still use paired point and shoot film cameras.
i said that the two forms of media can compliment one another, but i added
a warning that eventually film will be gone, (right after i said that we all
heard that kodachrome is kaput) so it pays to get your foot in the digital
door, and not be left behind.
in the eyes of many, kodachrome, which came out, i think in 1937 is still
considered the best slide film ever. yet digital stuff improves by leaps
and bounds, practically on a day-by-day basis!
yes, it will take awhile for the demise of film, so why prolong the agony
by purchasing outdated film-based stereo equipment, when we could be
applying our collective buying power to get the manufacturers to come out
with high-quality stereoscopic digital equipment?
by the way, except for rapidly moving objects, i've done very well in
capturing action scenes using twin digitals. flowing water can look
exceptionally cool. many who use twin film-based camera rigs are also
successful through practice. with digital stuff, you can often see right
away if you were successful, and redo if necessary.
regards,
marshall
