[photo-3d] Lenticular Decoder!

Today I was looking through this weeks sale circulars,
when I happened to come across a lenticular (business
card size) card affixed on to the Jean Coutu (pharmacy,
drug store) circular! The Magic Card (as they bill it),
is stuck to the circular. Your instructed to peel the
lenticular off the circular.

The lenticular doesn't have any 3-D image but rather an
animated Jean Coutu logo that transforms into a heart.
The back of the lenticular is printed Magic Card (in french
and english), Jean Coutu, and the Jean Coutu logo.
The lenticular doesn't have any paper backing. The card
is translucent. I'm not sure how they managed to
print the front and back, on the back. I speculate it's a
printed double-sided thin plastic film, which is affixed
to the backside of the lenticular.

The neat thing about this magic card is that there is
nothing printed on a portion of the card. That's
because that portion is used to view/decode the
secret message inside the circular, each week
revealing the different prizes to be won. I think we've
most all have seen similar decoding schemes using
those red filters, this is the first time I've seen a
lenticular decoder! The pitch of the lenticular is fine
but not as fine as found on Nimslo prints.

The secret message viewed without the lenticular has
very fine black lines running across, and small
random black speckles seemingly randomly placed.
It looks very much like a television set when there
is nothing being broadcast (noise).

Placing the lenticular over it, instantly reveals
very clearly, the decoded message. The lenticular
position is not critical, unless you want to
make the banding disappear.

I passed by a Jean Coutu to pick up some more
circulars but evidently it seems the lenticular is
only included in the home delivery (in Ontario,
Quebec, and New Brunswick) of the circular.

You can see the Magic Card Contest promotion
on their web site.
