S3D Re: priority mail woes

I would have to agree that UPS is not much of an alternative. I know a lot
of people and businesses that have problems with them constantly. I have the
best luck with Fed Ex and have rarely had problems with USPS. I like the new
tracking system for Priority Mail.
One service I would never use is Airborne Express. I have had so many
packages lost or returned to sender because they could not find me (I live
in the country). Other services can find my house, but they can't seem to.
Once they put a package on the ground by my mailbox (which is 1/2 mile from
my house) and it got stolen.
Also, with any service like UPS, Fed Ex, or Overnight USPS (and perhaps
other USPS services, like insured?), you can request a signature. They are
not supposed to just leave it. Most of the time this is default and you have
to waive it by signing the shipping papers if you just want them to drop it
and run. If the person is not home, the company should leave a notice on the
door for the customer to call to arrange delivery or sign the notice for a
package to be left by the door.
