Color correcting viewer light

How much value is there in color correcting a viewer's light?
I can see that if a lamp is very weak in blue, you might not
be able to achieve color balance with the Mk I eyeball. I
wonder what the limits would be.
It seems to me like you could achieve good color temperature
by painting with the barium sulfate John V recommends and then
gluing a Wratten gel, something in the 82 series, over each
opening in the viewer behind the slide. What is the color
temp of the halogen lamps you sell for 2 D cells in the red
button, George? 82, 82A, 82B, and 82C are +100K through +400K
as I understand it. 82A is used with studio lamps and 82B
is used with lower temp lamps - around 2900K.
I like the idea of mixing in blue paint with the reflector paint
but how was that blue achieved? What colors were absorbed and
by how much? How could that be determined?
