Viewer fluorescents

Do fluorescents get rid of the color temp problems of incandescents?
Do they create any new problems? I think fluorescents are just a
spread of (fairly broad) fluorescent peaks that fool the eye into
thinking it's got black body radiation to work with. So how well do
these peaks match the peaks of the dyes in the film which are also
trying to fool your eyes into thinking there's a full spectrum there?
Seems like plenty of opportunities for things to go awry here. There
are fluorescents sold for use in light tables so presumably these
problems have been worked out for some lamp/film combinations. I don't
know if the color index alone would be a good indicator of the fit
between lamp and film.

John
