I had the same meter for a short time and was thinking of measuring through
the viewer's eyepiece (and not directly the bulb) to take into account
the reflector, painting of the lamp compartment, etc.
Unfortunately, the detector of this meter is too bit to work well.
I am not really concerned about the color temperature of the illumination.
If the light is bright, it looks white to the eye. I agree with what Bob
Howard said. The same for projection. Eye adapts wonderfully. At the
end, only when you compare different viewers, projectors, etc., side by
side, the difference in light temperature/color are important.
BTW, the blue filter in the VM model D Chinese version is a joke, IMO.
This is to correct the stupid orange bulb that was put into the viewer.
If you put a halogen bulb to this viewer (which fits wonderfuly because
the contacts were modified to fit the orange bulb) then you must remove
the blue filter or light will be too blue. If you do that, just place
a white refector in its place to act as a secondary reflector.
[Infomercial - not allowed here? ;) - break: All this info on the model D
is, of course!, in my VM model D book!!!, which is free for all tech3d
members! S&H is slightly over $15 ;) ;) ;) Free samples of halogen
bulbs are available too! ;) ;)]
