So I tried it with my Gossen Sixticolor meter. Unfortunately, I find the
results rather untrustworthy! The meter was simply pointed at the light
source in my two halogenised viewers. The 6 volt one, running off 5
Nicad batteries gave 6200 deg K. The 3 volt one, running off two Nicads
gave 8000 deg K! Obviously, this meter is unsuitable, or my method of
reading is wrong...

Subjectively, both viewers give a nice white light, but the 6 volt looks
brighter, but both are yellow.

Oh well, back to the drawing board!
