RE: Bob Wier on "76" batteries.  The one with S in the name, e.g. 
S-76 is the silver oxide one and only one suitable for cameras.  An 
alkaline version A-76 is made for calculators but doesn't have the 
needed voltage stability for the exposure meter circuit. The 
calculator could care less. Also on the FED. The one I got from 
Finland had a dead battery that looked to me like the size of a PX-13 
or 625 (similar Hg batteries). I put in a 625 and got perfect 
exposures. Has the later or modified FED gone to the non Hg S-76 as 
seems to be implied by these posts. Did they reduce the size of the 
well of put in a ring to hold the smaller battery? BobH
