Good question.  All I know is some eye muscles feel like they have
been straining at something if I try to focus closer than what my
lenses will allow.  Just tried it again and it's sort of a strain/
hot/achey feeling like I would get if I tried very hard to lift some-
thing that was more than I could lift.
