Come come now, settle your feathers! :-) The way nice things get developed
is often the method of propsal and critique followed by fixed versions
and the cycle repeating (sometimes many times). There seemed to be
progress being made both in calculation method as well as understanding
the limits and usefulness. So I think it should continue. Particularly
on this list which is *supposed* to be heavy into math methods!

With a set of givens a very nice and useful (to some) calculator/spreadsheet
can probably be done. The "1.2mm" probably could be made a labelled input field
so if someone wants to achieve some other value, they can use the tool as
a guide to achieve it. Onbe may be able to develop a style that they like
some particular number with a format of film, and then use the tool to that
end -- even if it's not 1.2mm.

In a more formal development environment, all would get together and yell
and scream ahead of time in the definition phase, and *then* make a
prototype for further critique -- which would be minimal because yelling
was done ahead of time. Here, we're doing it informal and "real-time".

There seems to be the start of something interesting that over time
(and bit by bit improvements) could be something good.

EVEN if the 1/30 rule works okay, development of alternatives isn't
bad -- one can always still use the 1/30 rule , or "ummmppfff" (how
was that spelt?), or whatever. No painful arm twisting is being done by
email proxy. :-)

P.S. - I suspect a lot of the macro shots (certainly not all) are done
at home where one or more computers may be accessable to run the
program. Some may even take a laptop into the field for record
keeping for *some* of the field macro takers. I applaud the
development efforts (and the productive yelling) gone by so far.
