Hey, is this the same as sunlight? (he rhetoricly joked)

I frequently do weird things with stereo images that make me use the
outside world for convenient reference (focus and convergence
especially). I also hold a piece of white (inkjet) paper next to my
monitor on a cloudy day to white balance the monitor.

I have yet to see and electronic version of a gamma chart. Or a MTF,
ladder, gray scale, resolution, or anything useful for the computer
user. Maybe I just haven't looked. The HDTV video people must use
something. That and monochromators to measure the relative intensity at
different wavelengths. A person could do this at home if they really
cared too. A subjective adjustment using a slightly saturated (nearly
flat scan)photo with flesh and sky is a start. If the scan is too flat
one might inadvertantly turn up color and contrast to get the most
pleasing image.

I would rather be doing weird things with autostereo........
