Hello John,
I am definitely in the data acquisition domain.
I don't understand how telecentric comes to play here. An optical system
may be afocal or telecentric or both or neither. As a simple example, a
single lens system can be telecentric but it cannot be afocal. I don't
think that a telecentric system does anything special for phantagrams.
