People who are interested from a *technical* viewpoint (this is, after all,
the tech-3D list) of optical media for archival digital storage should be sure
to familiarize themselves with MEMRI:

or comparable approaches (if any). If they don't feel inclined to learn
about MEMRI, then they probably needn't concern themselves with the
subject of archival digital storage from a *technical* viewpoint.
