 some years ago VRex announced a 3d display for laptop computers. the
LCD display had interleved polarisation, say light from odd lines was
polarized at 45° and light from even lines had 135° polarisation (or
vice versa).

The patented micropol alternate polarized screen is produced by raster
scanning a  CO2 laser over a PVA polarized sheet.  Selective
depolarization is the principle.  There is likely a waveplate and and
analyzer in the sandwich.   Registration with and proximity to the LCD
display would seem critical.  VRex does indeed sell such devices but not
as laptops.  These work quite well when used as a transparencies in
projection systems.  Very nice hardware at that. Read about the
