The Scoop from PPANJ

Just got back from the Professional Photographers Assoc. of New Jersey (USA)
convention in Atlantic City, NJ.

Lots of b&w infrareds were entered in the print competition, and several won
blue ribbons. My 2 hand-colored HIE prints did well. One scored 82 (blue).
The other initially scored 80 (blue), but when brought back for the thumbs
up/thumbs down majority rule, it was bumped to 79 (red). Aarrgh! Many
thanks to listmember Jonathan Penney for doing the printing.

I asked the Kodak rep about their plans for HIE in alternate forms, such as
120 size, with an anti-halation layer, finer T-Max grain, etc. He said none
of these were probable. He said that the film is so sensitive, that the
paper wrapper of 120 would not protect the film from leakage. He also said
that the film is so difficult to manufacture, that only half or less passes
quality control checks and actually makes it to market. What isn't shipped
at once is stored in a salt mine. He said this makes alternate versions
unlikely.

As for E-6 processing of color IR, he said he would have to get back to me . . .
