The only concerns I have heard about regarding IR film in modern 35mm cameras
is is late model EOS cameras. The EOS Rebel, Elan, A2 (& all variants of
these models) all have infrared sensors to determine the film position for
film advance and loading. Both Kodak and Canon recommend against using
these cameras for IR shooting.
NOW for the good news. I have been using my Elan and A2 for IR shooting
for quite some time. The IR film sensors puts a bright, sharp fog along the
top of the film. This is where the sprocket holes are. After numerous rolls
of B&W IR and Ektachrome EIR, not once have the sensors effected the image
area. In the case of the new Ektachrome EIR, there is a bright, sharp, red
line along the top sprocket holes, but absolutly no effect in the image area.
If anyone wants to have a sample image showing the fogging caused by these
camera, please e-mail me directly and I'll be happy to send one.
