I just got one a few weeks ago. I don't know if it was "fixed," but it has
no problem seeing IR in daylight. I'm currently using a 25A filter for IR
stuff to preview and get a feel of what IR scenes in daylight look like. I
haven't tried looking through any clothes other than mine & my wife's.
Everything we wear is 100% cotton, and that seems to reflect/block IR very
well. However, the black nylon on my lowepro bag is somewhat translucent to
IR, and I can see what's in the external pocket.
If my unit is one of the "fixed" ones, the only thing I think Sony may have
done is to eliminate an IR-pass filter that would have been swapped with
the IR-block filter so that when in "Night-Shot" mode only IR is viewed.
My wife thinks I'm a bit touched in the head for getting excited about
viewing the world in IR, but I have fun anyway.
I'm curious about the spectral sensitivity of the CCD. If I view my gas
stove in visible, the flames appear to be an inch high, but in IR (lights
off) the flames can be seen to be several inches high. The metal grate
above the flame also glows brightly in IR.
I got the CCD-TRV65 from B&H for $630. All the local stores wanted $800.
