Filters and flash using SFX film

When using infrared at night is filtering the flash a good idea. I know a
grove of tree's where a good picture could be captured by bouncing a flash
into the trees. My concern is that SFX see a good deal of the white
spectrum of light. I assume filtering the flash will block out most of the
light above the red spectrum producing a flash of low wave light (err ...
red).
I guess my question is whether it is wise to filter both the camera and the
flash?
