David Lee adds, on the "new-to-IR" thread ...
I am sure that my experience will be similar (i hope). However, I am new to
IR film and so for the first few rolls I am using a commercial developer so
I can concentrate on getting good film exposures without adding the
developing mess to the whole experience.
I would suggest being very certain that any lab you use
has a totally dark (No safelights of any sort) operation.
I have heard that many labs use IR for their safelights
in some fashion -- sure death to your latent images.
My darkroom is safe enuf for regular b&w ; but I always do
my IR stuff at night, staying on the safe side of my
blocked off 3'x4' window being good enough for daytime
outside light and IR as well.
I stayed pretty close to the recommendation for a #25 red.
& 1/125th @ f11 ; morning or evening w/ sun behind, low
air humidity & puffy clouds when possible.
There have been a few clear sunny days here (Oregon Coast
in the NW US) and I have been tempted :) Perhaps I'll
get in on the next such day .....
