IR filter idea from Stassi

Hi all,

Last night on the Discovery Channel here in the US I saw the second episode
of a week long series called spytech or spy vs. spy or something like that.
It's on every night this week at 7pm central standard time.

They showed a country retreat style home owned by the East German secret
police, the Stassi (sp?), that was completely bugged and wired. They had a
den type of area with a clock with a black face. Surprise, behind it was a
video camera and a 35mm slr that would be loaded with IR film and triggered
remotely! The face was just a big filter!

They also showed a communication device that used IR light to transmit back
and forth.
