Really old infrared film
- From: Bertha Adamson <badamson@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

In sorting through my film inventory I found a old roll of 35mm Kodak HIE that
a friend had given me some time ago. The year is 1975.
I know that it is probably only fit as a practice roll for bulk loading, as a
film museum exhibit or as a slinky toy for the dogs, but I am half tempted to
shoot and develop it anyway, to see what happens.
However, that did make me wonder how long HIE will last past the expiration
date. I know many B&W films are actually good well past the date, if properly
stored. This is relevant because I also have a roll dated Jan. 1999. (Yeah,
I know, I'm obviously not shooting enough infrared - a situation I hope to
remedy soon.) Is infrared a lot more susceptible to age and environmental
factors? Is HIE more susceptible than Konica?
Thanks for expanding my IR knowledge, or even for really cool really old IR
film anecdotes.
