D-76 dev for HIE

I posted this message a while ago, and never heard back from anyone.
Maybe it's because this is a subjuect that has been more than covered
ion the past, but I am a new subscriber to the list and didn't see
mention of it on any sites I have visited.
I am about to expose my very first roll of IR film.... and need a little
assistance.
I bought Kodak HIE film, and currently use D-76 as my developer for B&W.
Could someone please recommend temps, times and agitation factors for
this combination? I would like to reduce the graininess as much as
possible. I know it can be considered artsy, but personally I don't like
it. Also, I would like to obtain negs that are not overly-contrasty
(although I do realize that contrast is a big part of IR images).
Thank you for the help- again, sorry if this has been discussed before.
Brian
