If this is the case, then you have the wrong film.  Why would you select a film
with characteristics that don't match your desired outcome?

Better than trying to force a film to become that which it is not, a much better
idea would be to switch films.  I would heartily recommend trying Konica's brand
of infrared film.  The grain is considerably better for your purposes and you
can use it the way it was designed.  You can see examples on my newly-designed
Web page (its first redesign in about four years).  (BTW, I would recommend
processing with Rodinal - just a personal choice.)
