I find this statement curious.
Granted that HIE isn't the easiest film to use, but how is a red #25 filter
any better than an opaque IR filter?
I suppose not being able to viewfind and compose shots through an opaque
filter adds some complexity. If one mounts either filter between the film
rails this consideration is gone.
Personally I've always used an 87 or 87C for IR right from the start. I
could be seen a bias because I've sold (and sell) Kodak Wratten 87C filters
to this list. But then again, I've also sold Wratten #25 too 8-).
