Pinholes

Has anyone ever got a technical explanation from Kodak about how this
occurs? Could it be the emulsion spreading equipment uses an IR detector to
monitor this kind of thing but  is turned off for the HIE run? Or is it the
emulsion doesn't spread as smoothly as other emulsions?
