> The sad truth is that Kodak is run like an other American business. It's
not at all about profit; it is about HOW MUCH profit. CEO's are constantly
trying to make more and more money each year for the stockholders. Why else
would companies continue to cut jobs when the U.S. is supposedly in "The
longest run of economic prosperity in history". Most likely Kodak is
discontinuing 4x5 HSI simply because it is not making ENOUGH of a profit. If
it was making no profit, it would have been dropped long ago. It's likely
that the same reasoning applies to 120/220 HIE. Not that many people have
medium format cameras to make it profitable enough for them to bother.
> I have no doubt that when the "Profit Margin" for 35mm HIE drops below a
certain number arrived at by some genius bean counter, it will be dumped by
Kodak too. Best thing to insure it's continued availability is to keep
buying it and shooting it! Or else find a good substitute from a less greedy
film company.
