New Canon EOS-1 V Film Data Imprint Window

To answer a previous ? W.J. asked:
I just looked at the Shutterbug March 2000 magazine and on page 46 they have
a picture of the EOS-1 V's film pressure plate. The data imprinting LED
seems to be located outside the picture frame in a vertical orientation,
towards the take up spool. So it looks like you won't have to cover it up
with black paper. For those of you not familar with this topic.... With
many LED/data backs the LED impression can reflect IR light to a leser
degree and cause unfavorable density changes on the resulting
negative/slides, usually only noticible when dark filters like an 87 are
used.
Off topic:
I've always been a Nikon man myself, but now that I'm starting to get into
super telephoto work, Canon's prices for their long lenses seem really nice.
Nikon makes super fast telephoto's too, but they are typically about a $1000
more. Maybe I'll pick up a spare Canon Body instead of patronizing Nikon.
But there is something nice about only having one camera system. Oh
well....decisions, decisions,
Peace Rolland
