Re: Escaping the grey world - NOT!
Hi Chuck,
it sounds like you're keen to stretch this out a bit. At the risk
of chewing up bandwidth on an IR forum, I'll offer a more verbose reply.
Firstly my world view is different to yours in the sense that I'm a
Christian (and creationist) rather than an evolutionist - I say this from
an observational point of view rather than a judgmental one of course.
Consequently I don't see the need to explain why traits exhibited in humans
have persisted through the ages using some derivative of the 'selfish gene
theory' or neo-darwinian logic.
Therefore my premise about the existence of creativity is that it has been
designed into us by God, both for our enjoyment and to reflect the
attributes of God (and glorify Him) as one who is creative.
Unless others are interested in this thread, we should probably take any
further conversations off line to our direct addresses. On that point ,
anyone feel free to email me personally about my world view and how
creativity fits in.
regards
Peter

Well, my conjecture is that to explain jokes and art and other forms of
expression there
must be a BIOS that is part of our evolution and it is Biphasic. Right now
we are in
a "survival mode" like a chipmunk chased up a tree, but he doesn't like it
and if he
were human he would make expressions of protest and hope that the threat
leaves so
he can get down and be comfortable. It is an easy choice for a chipmunk,
because
there are no job opportunities or food up there, but even though we have to
lock doors
and all the rest we have found a way to live that frozen exisitance. So,
change may do
us good, if we can relax and get a good nights sleep. It is the only thing
that explains
why sharing feels good and not sharing feels bad....you can play with
it...it is just a
game. You can look from both sides, too. Chuck There are concrete
examples
in chimps and you can look at the development of our brain from the limbic
system to
the inhibitory nature of the frontal cortex right now.
