It's not just using autofocus that is the problem. Many modern autofocus
have NO IR markings whatsoever, whether focusing manually or
automatically. NONE of the lenses for the Canon EOS system that I OWN
have the mark. (Of course, I have less expensive lenses.) So, I have to
shot at f/8 to f/16 to cover a wide depth, or just make an educated
adjustment, i.e. guess. 

This is why I also picked up a used Canon AE-1P with old lenses that do
have the mark, to use for IR. That is, until a tragic wind accident at
Bodie, CA. **Sob!**

But, I have had little problem with focus in my pictures by using f/8 or
above with the autofocus lenses.
