the K-1000 is a perfect camera for Infra Red shooting.....  you must have 
been told by a sales person trying to sell you a new "model" that it was 
unsuitable.  I think the older totally manual cameras are just perfect for 
shooting Infra red.  I use old canon AE-1 and T-70 myself...... the AE1 is at 
least 20 years old and the T70 probably about 15 years old!  I love them!
