Hi Jessie,
The only problem you may have with a K1000 is in seeing an image of the
dimpled pressure plate on your film, reported by some users although I
have never seen it on our Pentax MX or Cosina CT-1. The easy fix for
that is to cut a piece of 120 film backing paper to match the pressure
plate and fix it with thin double-sided tape (black side out). If you do
this you could dedicate the K1000 to IR and get a state of the art
machine for other film. And why a Nikon? Go for a Pentax MZ-5n or even a
Z-1p and you can share lenses.
Good luck with the IR anyway,
Colin
