I'm not sure I see a real problem... My RB with a Dr. T halogen and goes a long,
long time on alkaline D cells. With normal use I change batteries every 3-6
months (I think -- it happens so infrequently it's hard to remember). My MF
viewer, with two halogens, lasts a reaonable length of time with its high
capacity nicad D cells. In fact when it runs out of juice it seems mostly due to
the tendancy of nicads to slowly lose their charge even when not in use. And
when it runs out when I want to keep on viewing I simply plug in the charger and
continue to use it. The charger provides enough power for viewing, and recharges
the batteries in between slides.
I would like to see someone delve into lens making. Lenses are obviously the
most troublesome part of our viewers!
