  Perhaps the main one would be weight.
AA's vs C's or D's. Though my old
light box with double 2W halogens
used an external 4 C-cell nicad pack
so you didn't have to lift the weight
(though you were tethered).

  Assuming you could get down to
say 1/4Watt using LEDs or whatever
that might let you use tiny nicad
packs like cordless telephones use
and still get good life time.
