Regarding the responses to my original post:
A security viewer is a high end version of those silly little things you
look through doors with. Instead of a tiny wide angle optic, this one give
you a large inverted image on ground glass. By removing the small optics,
prisms and ground glass you end up with a large single lens in a focusing
barrel that is very well suited for a beginner MF stereo viewer. I will get
the exact model number the next time I am at a Canadian Tire store. The
brand is Mastercraft.
I will dig up the original instruction sheet and re-link the URL to
Robert's page.
BTW, there is another use for the cast-away parts. The prisms can be used
to view an uncut stereo part in Realist format, transposed. I was keeping
that a secret in case I tried to make and sell these, but I know I'll never
have time in the near future. Should I warn all the Canadian Tire stores
that a wild onslaught of 3d enthusiasts will be crashing their gates?
