America's First Fireworks: GUAM!

	Lliving on the island of Guam, an American colony which is on the other
side of the date line, means that for America, this is where the New Year
begins. When it is midnight of the 31st on Guam it will be 6AM of the 30th
in San Francisco and 9AM of the 301st in NYC.  If that makes your head
hurt, don't try to figure it out, just call a telephone operator to find
out what time it is in Guam.  

IF there are Y2K problems for America, this is where they will begin.  

AND, this is where America's First Fireworks will take place.

I'll be spend the evening with an assistant setting up fast computers to
transmit digital stills of the events to the WWW world. We'll be on the
21st floor of the Outrigger hotel in Tumon Bay, Guam. 

We'll have full battery back-up for all the computer equipment (just in
case of a Y2K power problem). 

Beginning about 9pm Guam time on the 31st (3AM 31st San Francisco, 6 AM NYC)
 we'll begin posting pictures of New Year's revelers to the net. We'll be
shooting with Kodak/Nikon DCS 420 and a Nikon 950 digital cameras.
Additional cameras will be 3 or 4-35mm Canon, 1-6x7cm Bronica, 1 or 2 -
4x5, 1-6x12cm and one 6x17cm.

and beginning about 9pm NYC (today) (6pm SFO today)  there will, sporadicly
appear street scenes of New Year's revelery in the tourist center of Guam.
Hard Rock, Planet Hollywood, GameWorks etc., amidst shoulder to shoulder
5Star hotels.
