A Belated Christmas Card to Photo-3D'ers!
Sorry to go AWOL for a few months, but I've very pleasantly distracted
lately. Our third child was born December 13 and she's already the star of
several rolls of realist film. Thanks to the Family Leave Act, I actually
got to stay home for a month and be with my tribe during this transition
period! In addition to helping around the house, I got a chance to catch up
on the six rolls of unmounted film that have accumulated since May '95...
am I the only one here who falls behind with this stuff, or does everyone
work 'round the clock like Dr. T.?
Anyone else get some neat stereo stuff for Christmas or Hannukah? I finally
got one of Jaspar Engineering's twin-camera brackets - the new vertical
model - and it is absolutely rock-solid, lockdown tight... so far, only one
pair of film rolls has been shot with this bracket in use, and already I'm
an evangelist. I would highly endorse Tim's custom millwork. Look for his
ads in SW, and don't wait as long as I did to make your purchase. I also
got one of the slider bars he makes for a single-camera rig, and I plan to
use it mostly for macro stereo in my basement "studio," as well as on the
copy stand for speeding up dupes of stereoviews. It's a precision
instrument, for sure. Ball bearings, detent stops and rock-solid
construction. Do I sound enthusiastic? You betcha!
Also picked up my own copy of Wolfgang & Mary Ann Sell's Viewmaster History
- thanks to Cygnus Graphics for rushing the delivery in time for Christmas!
Want to also plug these folks in Cincinnati for a wonderful job on the
book...the reels and text are very enjoyable, and it's fun to see where the
gaps are in my collection by following this book. Knowing that they must
have lots more to show us, I only hope they follow this one up with a book
that goes beyond the standard-issue equipment! Hats off, kudos,
pats-on-the-backs and more to the Sells.... this is a welcome addition to
my 3D library.
