Re: Metadiscussion
I, too would like to throw my not-inconsiderable weight behind the single-list
choice. It's not as though each day's digest is some vast file the size of an
Encyclopedia Brittanica. I can usually read that which concerns me in five to
ten minutes. If there is something that doesn't appeal to me, I just skip over
it. But often things will catch my attention that I wouldn't probably have
thought interesting, and I'm off on a new and educational tangent.
There's also the real financial consideration. A lot of services like my home
base, Compuserve, allow a certain number of free E-mail messages per month and
than charge a few pennies each for others. I've never paid much attention to
this because the cost is so small, but I think the free allowance on CS is 30,
which means in effect that I get my 30 Photo-3D digests free and pay a small fee
for my other E-mail. No big deal. But if instead of 30 digests, I had to receive
60 or 90 or 120 or 150 or more fragmented snippets of the list per month, this
would begin to become a financial burden, as well as a logistics problem.
Let's keep the Photo-3D intact--even if it does mean an occasional digest full
of formulae and gawdawful ASCII illustrations! Internet is supposed to broaden
our knowledge base, not restrict it!
