Like Hawking, I favor the unified approach. However it would be good if we 
could set up listserv to fire off digests when the size reaches 18-20K. 

The problem some people are having with mass quantities of accumulated
messages is simply to set your mail to POSTPONE and surf the archives
later. Photo-3d mail is generally not a matter of life or death.

Re the expense of aol.com, shop around for a cheaper provider that doesn't
rip you off for mail. Locally, we can get service with no mail metering
for $15 a month-- $25 if you want a slip or ppp account. Yeah, you need to
dial in during non peak periods because the lines are often busy, or 
configure your machine to do it for you on autopilot at 3am...

And most important of all, never whine.
