Slide film
In a message dated 96-01-26 22:28:09 EST, you write:
>Haven't found slide film in a grocery store, drug store, convenience store, or department store (kmart, walmart, etc) in at least two years. I can't remember the last time I saw film/processing combinations sold here in the States. (If I've got my exchange rates right, the prices you quote are quite reasonable!)
Dear Eric,
My experience has been a little better than yours. I am finding slide film at Wal-Mart: $5.99 for Kodachrome 64 (24 exp.), about $7.99 for Ektachrome 200 (36 exp.). I can also purchase these slide films at Eckerd Drugs, Ritz Photo, and Target. This has been true in Texas; also in Colorado (summer '95).
The best prices seem to be through B&H where Fuji Sensia slide film is $4.29 for RD100-36. Kodachrome 64-36 is $5.65 and Ektachrome 100 is $6.35-36.
Even cheaper films are available: Scotch (3M) 100-36 $3.39, Konica 100-36 $3.39. If you want to try the new Agfapan Scala 200 (black & white slide film) it's $9.95 for 36 exp. and $15.95 with Kodalux Processing (non-stereo).
B&H has lots of film types to choose from. They also sell in the bulk 100ft. rolls.
I have a bulk loader but haven't used it, because $4.29 per cassette is hard to beat! ($79.95 for 100ft. of RDP100 divided by 19 cassettes is $4.10. This doesn't include one-time cost for the reusable cassettes. This is the pro film; $5.99 for 36 exp cassette.)
I hope that your experiences will get better. You can call B&H at 1-800-947-9970 for a catalog, or e-mail at <70550.1616@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
BTW, I don't sell film; I'm just a begger telling another begger where to find bread. ;-)
Best,
Robert Linnstaedt
