George,
Both my parents grew up in Greece, and both lived to a respectable age,
early seventies. My mother had cataracts and my father did not. Most
people anyplace do not get cataracts, but my ophthalmologist told me
recently that all people get sort of cloudy lenses as they get older.
Most people act as if a probability of 10% can be ignored. Some of them
die more unpleasantly than do most of us who believe in statistics. I
would hate to lose some of my sight. It's bad enough now when bifocals
aren't enough and I need one pair of bifocals for driving and walking
and building things and another for working on the computer and taking
cameras apart.
Listen to Jim, he knows what he's talking about.
