Called up the friend and yes, this is very basic to animated cartooning.
For a tracking* shot, they move the foreground most, the midground a little,
and the background the least. If you don't do it in the proper proportions,
it looks phony.
Traversing is called "tracking", to correct my earlier word usage.
Raising and lowering the camera is craning it. Panning is as I stated.
