3 eyes and eyebrows

In the recent discussion of having three eyes, I saw the statement:
>       " Eyebrows are a waste; eliminate them, but make the eyelashes

I've always assumed that eyebrows functioned as an awning, or umbrella,
keeping sweat and rain running down yor face from getting directly into
your eyes.  (Think of the similar difficulties we'd have if our noses were
upside-down.)

I think that the 'facial design team' did a pretty good job.
