Dear Todd Eifert,
I have used both Ritz and Qualex with no problems, though the fella at Ritz
asked a few questions (got their 1 hour processing). He knew me (regular
customer) and let on that he was a little shocked, to which I responded,
"Does nudity bother you? There's nothing in there you don't see in the
locker room." These were male figural studies and not at all pornographic.
I delve occasionally into the genre because there has been so few male
studies compared to the numerous studies of the female. Especially in 3D.
My preference is to shoot stereos without flash. Those by even the best
photogs (except using macro-realist or studio lighting) look just awful.
Existing light photography is to be prefered. Also, using long exposure
rather than fast films. In figural studies, your model can easily hold a
pose for 1 second. I have no reciprocity problems with 1 second exposures.
Daylight, overcast is a favorite lighting situation when using 100 ASA, f11
at 1/100 works very well, or f8 at 1/200 for less depth of field.
Good luck!
