Dalia's Inside 3D
Just received my copy of Dalia's stereo publication, "Inside 3D".
This is becoming a serious 3D publication with table of contents,
editorial staff (Editor: Dalia Miller, Art & Photography: Andrew
Miller, and 5 contributing editors), Letters to the Editor, Short
News, 9 featured articles and 8 regular columns. Also, included in
the publication is "3D from Dalia", illustrated catalog with Dalia's
3D products.
Dalia is putting a lot of work into this and it is getting better
and bigger from issue to issue. This is good news for 3D, especially
considering how some other 3D publications (ReView, for example) have
died while others have never really grown (Stereoscopy is one example).
It takes an active editor, IMO, to get a 3D publication rolling. An
editor who knows how to bug people to sumbit articles. (From first hand
experience, I can assure you that Dalia is doing great in that respect!)
An editor that has the time and resources and is willing to use them
fully. An experience editor with connections to the 3d world. An
editor who has email and is not afraid to use it! (also to fax, use
the phone, etc.)
I only had time to take a quick look... I see Dr. T has two articles, one
on Stereo Viewer repair and maintenance (part III of a series) and one
on slide duplication w/Jon Golden (since when Dr. T is an expert in this
subject too??? ;)) I noticed that page 29 of the viewer article has
been reversed (turned around so a catalog page follows and page 29 is
in the catalog section). Did this happen to my copy only? ;) I took
the staplers out, reversed the page and put it back. Will that make
my issue more valuable?
It's good to see that the articles cover a wide range of information
useful to both collectors and users. I urge photo-3d people to support
this publication by submitting articles or ideas for articles to Dalia!
