Star Wars Pulfrich

With the release of the Star Wars trilogy back into theaters, perhaps
it's a good time to mention again that some scenes in these movies are
great for viewing in stereo using the Pulfrich effect. In particular,
Return of the Jedi has the scene of the hovercraft flying through the
redwood forest that has occasionally been referenced here. I saw
this scene on TV and found it so excellent that it was frustrating when
they switched views.

For the record, the Pulfrich effect is achieved by placing a single
sunglass or other darkened lens over the one eye that "leads" the
lateral movement of an object on the screen. The object then pops
out of the background. In the case of the hovercraft scene, it works
great.
